About the lecture: Meeting Peoples’ Primary Needs Now and in the Future

Join Dr Rosie Gowran as she shares her wealth of expertise across assistive technology delivery, system strengthening and health implementation science. Through her work Rosie adopts a Human Security approach to support people with disabilities, particularly people who use wheelchairs, to address service system challenges and erosion of personhood.

This talk will also discuss how working collectively and sharing and understanding perspectives, we can create sustainable health and social care infrastructures.

About the speaker

Rosie is an Implementation Scientist, and Human Rights Activist, adopting a Human Security approach to support people with disabilities, particularly people who use wheelchairs, to address service system challenges and erosion of personhood.

Building Sustainable Communities of Practice in Health and Social Care is the overarching theme driving her research and education philosophy, advocating for appropriate person-centred service provision as a responsibility of the whole community.

Developing the Sustainable Community of Practice (SCOP) model, Rosie utilises participatory, stakeholder-centred mixed methodologies, to develop sustainable and impactful service provision policy appropriate to meet peoples’ primary needs across the life course.

Rosie is an honorary professor at the Global Disability Innovation (GDI) Hub, University College London and holds a visiting position at the Assisting Living and Learning (ALL) Institute, Maynooth University, Ireland.

Rosie is working with GDI Hub on a local systems strengthening project in Nepal, in partnership with Kathmandu University.
