Disabled Students Survey - from COVID to Careers, Societies to Accessibility

Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub) & Snowdon Trust are asking disabled students to share their experiences - from the impact of COVID on their studies, to student experience, accommodation and funding. We are exploring accessibility and outcomes, to capture the experiences of current and recently graduated disabled students.

Responses will feed into a report to inform policy and drive positive change in higher education practice. We want to amplify the voices of disabled students, producing a report on disabled student experience in higher education across the UK.

Completing the survey

The survey will take around 10-15 minutes to complete. The majority of questions are multiple choice with areas of free text for expansion.

• You can exit the questionnaire at any point and miss questions you do not want to answer
• Only once you press submit at the end will your responses be seen
• The survey is anonymous unless you choose to submit your details
• Students should of graduated beyond 2015 from a UK university, or be currently studying
• All UK universities and courses are welcome
• The survey is open to all disabled students, national and international studying in the UK
• We welcome responses relating to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses
• You do not have to be receiving DSA to complete this survey
• The survey will close at midnight on Tuesday 24th November 2020

In October 2020 Policy Connect released an extensive Disabled Students Enquiry titled 'Arriving At Thriving: Learning from disabled students to ensure access for all'.

We are looking to follow up from this report 6 months on, capturing the student experience from Snowdon Scholars and Alumni, recently graduated students, and those that are continuing to study during the unprecedented COVID pandemic.

The aim is to amplify student voices, to share stories, challenges and successes - to understand the full, holistic experience of being a disabled student and to identify where there are opportunities.

Snowdon Trust

Snowdon Trust provides grants to physically disabled and sensory impaired students studying in the UK. Established by the First Earl of Snowdon, who contracted polio as a child, the trust has gone on to support over 2,700 students through higher education and onto the path to achieving their true potential. Snowdon Trust has supported students with grants and scholarships totalling more than £4 million.
