Professor Paul Brickell recognised in New Year Honours
We are delighted to congratulate Professor Paul Brickell on his recent MBE for services to the regeneration of east London.
As the Executive Director of regeneration and community partnerships at the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) Paul was pivotal in the regeneration of East London. He also helped to support the foundation of the Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub), which was incubated within LLDC before moving to its permanent home at UCL as a legacy of the London 2012 Paralympic Games. As a member of the GDI Hub’s Advisory Board, Professor Brickell has championed and challenged the GDI Hub, supporting its strategic vision and enabling the extensive growth that can be seen today.
Professor Brickell, formerly of the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health, received his MBE for services to the regeneration of east London. The former Professor of Molecular Haemotology changed career to contribute to the regeneration of his "home town" of east London, and has been a pioneering figure in the legacy of the 2012 Games and the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
As we congratulate Paul on his MBE, we also thank him for his passion, determination and vision. By placing people, ideas and innovation at the heart of regeneration, opportunities have emerged for pioneering new ways of working and disruptive partnerships. Fostering a unique legacy, this environment has provided the foundations for the GDI Hub to impact lives on a global scale.
Thank you Paul, and congratulations.
