Three Snowdon Trust Scholarships available for our MSc in Disability, Design and Innovation

The Global Disability Innovation Hub is delighted to announce that the Snowdon Trust will be supporting up to three exceptional disabled students to join our Disability, Design and Innovation MSc programme in September 2020.

These scholarships provide a unique opportunity for disabled students with a passion for learning and the determination to succeed. We’re looking for applicants with a strong desire to help improve the lives of others and the potential to become a leader of the future. Applications are now open. Founded in 1981 the Snowdon Trust has helped more than 2,700 disabled students on the path to achieving their true potential, with grants and scholarships totalling more than £4 million. Established by the First Earl of Snowdon, a prominent disability rights campaigner who contracted polio as a child, the trust supports disabled people across the country to excel in higher education.

The Global Disability Innovation Hub (GDI Hub’s) MSc in Disability, Design and Innovation is a unique multidisciplinary programme, taught across UCL, Loughborough University London and London College of Fashion. The course is designed to develop the next generation of pioneers in the groundbreaking field of Disability Innovation. Students with backgrounds in engineering, social sciences, medical, international development and computer science are encouraged to apply.

GDI Hub Academic Director Dr Catherine Holloway says;

“Access to higher education is vital. We’re delighted the Snowdon Trust has chosen to support high achieving disabled students to become the innovators of tomorrow. The global potential for disability innovation is huge. New technologies provide opportunities for scalability and access, but to accelerate this movement we need diverse pioneers to bring new experiences and understanding.

The Disability, Design and Innovation Masters is the world’s first course in this rapidly growing area. Students will be taught in a uniquely multidisciplinary environment, learning from global experts, live research projects and high profile global collaborations. We’re looking for exceptional disabled students with the drive and determination to push the boundaries of this new area of study.”

In January 2020 the GDI Hub will also be launching a nationwide Snowdon Master Scholarships programme to invest in inspirational disabled leaders across subjects and sectors. Focused on building the potential of future disabled leaders, the scholarships will provide funding of up to £30,000 of funding for Masters courses across the country.
