Prime-VR2
The PrimeVR2 project is a Horizon 2020 project where commercial, academic and research teams are building a virtual reality platform that will allow people with a hyperkinetic movement disorder, people who have had a stroke, and people with a sports injury to play games and interact in a virtual environment for rehabilitation.
About
Prime-VR2 is an EU wide H2020 project with partners from universities and commercial enterprises all across Europe. Prime-VR2 is developing a virtual reality platform (VRHAB-IT) for people with dystonia, stroke or musculoskeletal injury. Accessible controllers that are bespoke to the individual will be integrated with VR hardware and specialist software, allowing control of an avatar in a virtual environment. It will be an immersive experience that will combine a virtual world with visual and auditory feedback as well as interactive games and activities used to encourage movement for rehabilitation and play.
The project works alongside NicoMed in Cyprus and St James's Hospital in Malta, helping with the exchange of ideas and between the users and designers.

The Global Disability Innovation Hub is working the Evelina Children's Hospital as a living lab in the project get direct feedback from users with a hyperkinetic movement disorder and clinicians with expertise in the field.
There are three living labs of the project each with different clinical areas of expertise: With GDHI in the Evelina in the UK, NicoMed in Cyprus working with people who have had a stroke, and St James's Hospital in Malta working with people with musculoskeletal injury.
All the living labs incorporate the same co-design approach, allowing the exchange of ideas and between the users and designers, informing design decisions at an early stage in the design process.

How can you get involved?
- End-user feedback
Do you have a hyperkinetic movement disorder such as dystonia that affects your hands and arms, and would you be interested in helping us by feeding back on our designs, or would be interested in our study to measure dystonic movements?
We are looking for people to help shape the progress of the project by trying out the bespoke controllers and VR games and environments we create.
If you are interested in getting involved or for more information, please fill out our contact form: https://bit.ly/33LHW7q and we will get in touch with you.
