Katherine Wang
PhD
Katherine Wang is a PhD candidate at the Global Disability Innovation Hub and UCL Interaction Centre. She was part of the first cohort of the Disability, Design and Innovation MSc at UCL, where she developed an interest in virtual reality as an assistive technology. Building upon this interest, her research focuses on understanding how biofeedback signals can be incorporated into the design of virtual reality environments to reduce feelings of loneliness and enhance social connectedness. Katherine’s PhD is supervised by Dr. Youngjun Cho (UCL) and Prof. Simon Julier (UCL).
Prior to her studies at UCL, Katherine obtained a BA in fashion communication and marketing from Ecole Supérieure des Arts et Techniques de la Mode and worked for several years in design management roles before gaining a BSc in business psychology from the Pennsylvania State University where she focused on entrepreneurial innovation and behaviour.
